Metamorphosis

Statement
Hanna finds his inspiration by questioning his identity. Faded images from the memory of his past life, merge with the natural environment of the Nordic forests. Warm lights intertwine with the black soils and the silhouettes of the trees. They struggle to find balance, but they manage to coexist on the same surface as equals. There is a dialogue between natural patterns, digital drawings and colour manipulation. Humans are natural beings, and technology has failed to create an alternative environment where they can feel at home. This collection of prints is an attempt to reconcile between the natural and the artificial. Nothing lasts, nothing is lost, and nothing is still, everything struggles to survive in movement and transformation.

Process
Hanna’s paintings and drawings are photographed digitally and combined with the photographs of the forest or the city creating a no man’s land. A neutral space where infinite variations and iterations are possible. Finally, the images created in this process are selected, refined and printed with twelve colours archival inks on high quality matte paper. All the images are limited editions, numbered and signed by the artist.
